Making the invisible, visible: Seeking the voices of justice involved young women in homelessness discourse
This publication is based on stories from young women from regional NSW charged with violence related offences, who participated in Name.Narrate.Navigate. The article reflects on the role of violence in the homelessness of young women.
Publication by Louise Rak (2022).
Young women involved in the justice system – due to their use of violence – have intersecting experiences of trauma and abuse, being themselves survivors of violence.
With precarious living situations frequently made worse by systems that fail to validate and listen to their experiences, their rich insights into their experiences of violence, including their own use of violence and the impact of homelessness in their stories of violence are often absent from practice, policy and research.
